I just wanted to send in some photos of the playhouse I built for my daughters with your plans. I started with zero experience and, working by myself, I was able to complete the playhouse in about three months of weekends only. I used concrete wall-boards (Hardi-Panels) to sheathe the exterior rather than plywood or planking (much easier to paint). I used a jigsaw to scallop the 1″ x 4″ trim around the roof line and my wife and her friends painted decorations on the scalloped trim by hand. I saved some money by making windows from 1″x4″ pine and 1/4″ Plexiglas.
I added the swing to the side of the playhouse a few weeks later without using a plan. My kids love it and the project has made a woodworker out of me. I was sorry when I finished the project but am starting a new one already. The plans were great, easy to read and very complete. My status as “SuperDad” is assured for the foreseeable future. Thanks for a great product.

I wanted to send you a photo of the L shaped playhouse built from your plans. My husband made this for our 3 younger children. Instead of the sandbox on the bottom, we enclosed the bottom, and use it as their “garage” for their Monster truck, as well as storage for all of their other toys, it even has it’s own sliding door. The kids really love it, and picked out the colors to paint the house. We will be adding a window flower box under the window, as my 5 year old daughter loves flowers. We did put shutters on window to keep rain and snow out, as we did not use glass or Plexiglas, because we wanted to keep it open for ventilation.
This was my husbands first large project, and he really enjoyed it. The plans made it very easy to follow.

Comments: Ernie used redwood cedar for
siding and rough cut pine for the trim and porch flooring. The roof is shingled with standard shingles, the interior floor is a faux granite tile. He paneled the inside with nice bleached panels and the ceiling is knotty pine.

This was a family collaboration using the Traditional Cedar Birdhouse design. We found the instructions easy to follow. We made one modification. The bottom can be opened for cleaning in case the birds actually use it. We used window screen holders to hold the bottom on. Thanks!

Anyone interested in building there own shed would definitely try to attend at least on building supply auction. My anderson windows are in the 250 to 350 price range at a building supply dealer. Brand new at auction they were $15 each.

I changed the bird house to a bird feeder due to my mom likes to feed the birds.
I used a 4×4 pressure treated wood and used 2×4′s for the feet.
